Wesfarmers chief executive Rob Scott said the price of goods for Australian consumers could be headed lower as the US-China trade war causes Chinese suppliers to seek alternative markets.
China said earlier this month it is considering trade talks with the Trump administration as both sides look for a way out of their tariff war. However, additional levies of up to 145 per cent on Chinese imports to the US have pushed many of its manufacturers to look for new sources of demand, Scott said.
