Woodside Energy is assessing the impact the Trump administration’s tariffs will have on its Louisiana liquefied natural gas project and whether the site’s location in a free-trade zone could give it an edge over its US rivals.
Half of the materials needed to build the Louisiana plant will be sourced from outside the US, which would ordinarily make the project vulnerable to at least the baseline 10 per cent import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on April 5.
