The peak bodies for the superannuation industry allegedly told a consumer group that repeatedly raised the need for funds to implement better cybersecurity protections, such as multifactor authentication, that their proposed standards were too onerous.

A representative of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) told Super Consumers Australia chief Xavier O’Halloran that their requests would put “too high” a burden on funds.
