Insurance Australia Group chief executive Nick Hawkins says he’s confident the acquisition of two state-based insurers will get through the competition regulator, after IAG said it will buy The Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia (RAC) for $1.35 billion, hot on the heels of a similar deal in Queensland.

Australia’s largest insurer on Thursday said it had formed a “strategic alliance” with Perth-based RAC, further expanding its brand portfolio after striking a deal with the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland six months ago.
