Prime Minister Anthony Albanese insists the Commonwealth will not be rushed into a decision to extend a massive offshore gas project amid increasing pressure from the West Australian government and industry.
The Albanese government has repeatedly delayed the decision on whether to extend Woodside’s North West Shelf gas project for another 40 years, with the deadline currently set for the end of this month. The delay has prompted WA Premier Roger Cook to this week order his ministry to lobby federal counterparts on the matter.
