Vanguard, the $US10 trillion ($15.6 trillion) US fund management giant that dominates low-cost index investing, is increasing its superannuation business five times faster than industry fund peers, and chief executive Daniel Shrimski is promising to cut fees further.

Shrimski also took aim at the complexity in the $4.2 trillion retirement savings system, saying Australians had become detached from it.
